Abstract: | The paper examines pro-environmental purchasing behavior (PPB) and how it is influenced by demographics, environmental knowledge and attitudes. It was found that less than 20% of Greeks can be characterized as frequent pro-environmental purchasers. The results suggest that professionals, 35-55 years old, holding a graduate and/or postgraduate degree and with an income of 25-30 thousand euros are more engaged in PPB in Greece. Also, consumers said they often choose the environmental friendly product when there is no significant price difference. PPB is also positively correlated with environmental knowledge and negatively correlated with environmental unconcern. |
