Abstract:With the common understanding that economic growth would bring the increase of social wealth and higher living standard of people, every government spares no effort to seek incremental economy at present. But does decremental economy mean depression and decline of people's living standard? This paper points out that decremental economy is rational under the conditions that the consumers' interest is not damaged and policies including the policy of guaranteeing equal working opportunity can be implemented effectively and price index is falling. It also thinks that decremental economy has a positive effect on adjusting industrial structure, saving energy and improving environment.
