Abstract:The peer review system is contrasted with the traditional grievance- and dispute-resolution models. The weaknesses of the traditional models are dealt with. Some new developments are mentioned. For example one-on-one management reviews give primary problem-solving responsibility to immediate supervisors. The classic open-door policy is characterized. Three undesirable options available for employees are described (leave, live with it, look for external redress). The peer review model is shown in detail. It needs the effective employee participation demands and allows participation with full decision-making power. Immediate, short-term and long-term effects, benefits and results , are highlighted.
