| Abstract: | The aim of this paper is to look at the growing trend to provide management education specific to the retail trades. It focuses on the work of the Institute for Retail Studies and the launch of its MBA aimed specifically at the retail and wholesale industry. This postgraduate qualification is targeted primarily at existing retail managers and is delivered through the medium of distance learning. It has been made possible by the growth of large multiple retailers in the United Kingdom and the recognition that retailing is a sector with its own specific management problems and information needs. |
