| Abstract: | Using the General Household Survey, this paper examines the increase in mothers' employment (here as: empl.) in Britain from 1974 to 2000. Those birth cohorts whose mothers experienced significant empl. increases are isolated and compared with changes in policies. The results suggest maternity rights having had a profound effect on empl. However, this effect varies by the wage opportunities of mothers. |
