| Abstract: | It is underscored that social development and energy utilization capacities have always been interrelated throughout human history. Tanzania's current conventional energy resource potential and utilization is reviewed. Since Tanzania is heavily dependent on oil imports, and faces uncertain access to it, alternative and renewable energy potentials and possibilities for the future energy research and development including biogas technology and solar applications are discussed. Some current energy policy issues are highlighted and possible strategies are suggested for overcoming the problems and achieving the objectives. |
