Abstract:To overcome distributive injustice in Latin America, it is necessary to produce a sufficient quantity of wealth. This article argues that the superior productive efficiency of the market system makes it the best economic system for the task. Further, the article demonstrates that under certain conditions, free markets can produce just outcomes. The article concludes by suggesting some ways the state may enhance market outcomes to produce a more just distribution of income in Latin America.
