Abstract:Venture capitalists appear to be committed to a risky project to a different extent, possibly causing entrapment. In a survey including 60 venture capital investments in the Netherlands, entrapment was estimated by means of indicators. Furthermore, possible determinants of entrapment were examined. The results of a MIMIC model show that entrapment is related to the size of the project. Since a systematic pattern of nonresponse was found, the results may be generalized to the population of active venture capitalists in the western part of the Netherlands.
