Abstract:This article aims to create a meeting ground for the two disciplines in our teaching and proposes that instructors of language and culture for business are in a unique position to create dialogue between these two ways of understanding the world. It is concluded that globalization is not necessarily colonization, but has the potential to be if the difference between terminal and instrumental materialism and the difference between money and wealth are not acknowledged and explored. The issues surrounding social equity are an important topic of discussion for understanding these differences. The article proposes that the best way to present this discussion in the language and culture for business classroom is through the critical reading of texts from both the business and literary traditions.
