Abstract: | The problems associated with upward organizational communication, such as automatic vigilance effect and ingratiation effect, causes managers to form inaccurate impressions of the climate within their organizations, with dangerous strategic consequences. This paper explores the problems that these dynamics create for companies, and examines the benefits that can be obtained from institutionalising more critical upward feedback into an organization's communication system. |
