Abstract:The 1980s was a decade of globalization, not only markets, but of crises that linked continents, and individuals, as never before. The decade now ending has witnessed a broader definition of crisis management: it has given rise to the need for proactive crisis management planning. "Rules" of crisis management have little scholarly value, but some suggestions are offered. It is shown how well prepared management is, at all levels, to cope with rapid change or crisis, and to effectively protect all of its stakeholders: consumers, investors, governments. Arguments are provided that effective relations with the news media is one of the most crucial areas of crisis management. Examples of effective public relations are presented.
