Abstract:The survey is the second of a five part series on the market for men's outerwear. This part covers the market for outdoor clothing. Excluded here are tailored jackets such as sport jackets or blazers covered by the part 1 of the series. In general, the trade segments the market into "performance" and mass market garments. The former includes specialist garments for protection against severe weather and for specific outdoor pursuits. The latter accounting for about 90 per cent of market value, consists of outdoor garments designed to a lower specification. Most of merchandise is manufactured in the Far East, mostly China. That is why, most suppliers are in fact importers, directly or indirectly.
