Abstract:The textile industry may be in the financial doldrums but Gent, S. R.'s UK base is strengthening dramatically and its international prospects are growing. The company is fortunate in its association with M and S (Marks and Spencer), the one high street retailer which is still thriving. Gent's finance director was responsible for the firm's high level of investment in technology for cutting, costing, interfacing and information systems, to keep up with M and S technology. A prime source of ideas is the company's design department and designers travel regularly to keep abreast of international fashion trends.
