| Abstract: | A large-scale agricultural production and distribution problem in a seed corn production company is investigated. The modelling and computer running process are described. Heuristics are designed to combine MPSX and MIX packages to solve the mathematical programming problems. Good suboptimal solutions are obtained. The results of the study indicate a great benefit in applying optimization techniques to decision-making in a large-scale production system. After the study, the management has now a better understanding of the company's current situation and has realized the potential to improve the system's operation by identifying inefficient factors in the current operation. |
