Abstract:There are two main conceptions in the scientific economic community about the possible macroeconomic management policies in the former socialist countries. The first is rather extreme and revolutionary. The second conception may be described as more evolutionary. The fall in the standard of living may be subject to a reasonable limit that every economist and politician has to accept. Under Bulgaria's condition this means that there is little point in testing people's patience further if this can be avoided.
