Abstract: | A sufficient number of studies shows that a vast majority of young American adults, including those who have taken an introductory economics course in high school or college, are illiterate in basic economic concepts such as scarcity , inflation, and GNP. The studies also show that the level of economic literacy of the general public could be raised substantially by exposing young citizens to specially designed courses. The demonstration is based on a significant relationship between outcomes of learning and short-term recall of written economic content. |
