| Abstract: | Systematic future-oriented thinking helps the government, industry associations and firms in Japan to initiate technology development efforts in a coherent way. Governmental action is currently aimed at information exchange between research institutions and industry associations through autonomous networks in the identified areas, for rapid diffusion of innovations in high technology. |
