Abstract:In recent years, the U.S. has maintained a lower rate of growth through an increase in exports. Since president Clinton took office, he has presented his "New Direction" economic plan, in which one of the fundamental components is still to expand exports. However, the economic growth in the first quarter this year was only 0.9 percent, and in March trade deficit hit a record height of 10,200 million dollars. It is estimated that the deficit this year will reach as high as 100,000 million dollars . For this reason, Clinton urges Group-7 leaders to address and tackle the trade imbalance. Meanwhile bilateral negotiations are hold between U.S. and Japan.
