| Abstract: | The prospective entry of Austria, Finland, Norway and Sweden to the European Union will have significant implications for European integration. Yet there are hurdles still to clear. The article analyses why the EU wants the EFTA Four, why the EFTA FOUR want to join. A number of shared interests but also divergences are described. What the EU can expect from the EFTA Four is also analysed in terms of budget renegotiation, defence issues, economic and monetary union, action on jobs and foreign investment. |
