Abstract:Based on a real-life example, Eric Laing BA (Hons), CA, FCMA, a specialist in product and customer profitability analysis and costing systems, explains in this article how highly beneficial information was obtained in a complex manufacturing situation. After an initial brief study it was decided to model the business, applying activity-based costing principles where practical. It provided all the benefits required and had the advantage of being easy to update.
