Abstract: | Bi-directional AGV systems are more efficient than unidirectional systems because of shorter travel distances. An efficient algorithm for finding conflict free shortest time routes for automated guided vehicles moving in a bi-directional flow path network has been proposed in a previous paper. This paper is a sequel and describes a conservative myopic strategy to coordinate the movements of vehicles in a bi-directional AGV system. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of unidirectional and bi-directional systems. |
