Abstract:The watch industry presents us with a typical example of the way in which shifts in competitive advantage occur. Historically, the predominance of each watch-manufacturing centre has been repeatedly challenged. The aim of this study is to indicate the strategies which competing firms have used either to establish leading positions in the market or to regain dominant positions previously lost to the competition.
