| Abstract: | The article gives an overview of different concepts and methodologies for estimating lines.The absolute and the relative poverty lines, as well as objective and subjective concepts are discussed.Some empirical evidence of the use of poverty lines and poverty measures in estimating the extent of poverty in Europe is quoted.Different poverty concepts, poverty lines and poverty measures result in different poverty rates. |
