| Abstract: | The labour Force Survey is the largest official survey of households in Slovenia.In 1995, it will be completely carried out by Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia.At this time, we can think about changes of sample design and try to follow examples of designs in other European countries and recommendations of Eurostat and ILO. We summarise recommendations of both organisations and briefly describe the sample designs for Labour Force Surveys of some countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Belgium, Danmark) which are similar to Slovenia in level of development, size of population, rate of unemployment.We try to consider main features of designs in answering the basic question what kind of sample design Slovenia needs.There is a basic dilemma about sample size: we could continue our old praxis and interview 8.500 households or we could approach to recommendation of European Union and interview between 15.000 and 25.000 households.Besides this dilemma, there are many technical questions concerning stratification, rotation and spread of the sample. |
