Abstract:Small business clients are adopting low-cost accounting programs at a rapid rate, cutting into some CPA firms' business. However, other CPA firms are using the products to generate new business. This article tells how and reviews 11 leading packages. Installing and supporting the programs are ways to generate new business. When inexpensive accounting programs first came on the market a few years ago, many CPAs dismissed them as useless computer toys. Today, many CPAs no longer dismiss the products.
