Abstract:More and more organizations have begun to learn about, experiment with, develop , and use expert systems (ES) in the area of production and operations management (POM). In evaluating these systems in the literature, few investigators have discussed the effects that ES will have on humans and their work. This article offers some possible human impacts of ES implementation and concludes that, in the long run, these impacts may prove to be much more important than the technical issues.
