| Abstract: | This article is a presentation of Averitt Express' experience in EDI implementation in terms of benefits and problems. This innovative process has changed the company from a reactive transportation firm based on customer requests to a proactive one. The benefits of EDI are numerous, but most are intangible and difficult to quantify or measure. Investment in EDI, especially for a transportation company, should be seen as a necessary business tool for modern business operations rather than a 'quick cash' investment. |
