| Abstract: | A 1993 study of strategic management in the USA shows that their ROI grows with sophistication in strategic management. It also shows that the best planning firms excel in all stages of strategic management activities. This appearance of progress, however, conceals some hidden problems. Most senior managers expressed difficulty in new business development, internationalization of plans, and in shifting to a business building and collaborative mentality. While most managers think they are strategists, only a very few know how to develop sophisticated processes and capabilities that produce superior results. |
