Abstract:When the Open University decided to practise what it taught about the learning organisation, it sparked a spate of employee-led activities that allowed staff and students to influence strategy. Carol Russel and Elizabeth Parsons describe what happened. In a world of swift technological change, and with the recent restructuring of UK higher education, the OU is having to lear fast. But there can be conflicting needs. Fast, localised decisions can be impossible to implement if important stakeholders are excluded.
