| Abstract: | In this article, the concept of business reengineering is characterized as a combination of seven organization design instruments. It is argued, that the most important innovation of business reengineering is a new approach to the evaluation of organization structures. The limitations of business reengineering are explained by its methodolical shortcommings. As a consequence, business reengineering is restricted to the design of comparatively simple processes and the restructuring of only a limited number of processes at the same time. |
