| Abstract: | In this paper the authors explore the role of services in the structure of production and trade. The basic objective is to develop a set of empirically-based stylised facts. Working with a sample of national income data for 15 countries, the authors explore upstream and downstream service linkages and their relationship to changes in income levels and the input-output structure of production. The analysis provides five results which the authors interpret as stylised facts. |
