Abstract:The authors of this article argue that to reach and change frontline employees requires giving up the image of the charismatic executive rousing the troops. Frontline employees may accept change, but they will not accept empty words delivered impersonally. If you need to communicate major change, stop communicating values, communicate face to face, and remember that frontline supervisors, not senior managers, are the people whom frontline employees trust the most.
