Abstract:Campaigning for ethical consumer decision making plays a prominent part in a demand-side solution to a worldwide problem. The violation of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the form of counterfeiting is emerging as one of the most troublesome problems for companies as we enter the coming millennium. Indeed, despite efforts by countries to improve mechanisms of international enforcement, losses attributed to IPR theft are increasing exponentially. Consider that the value of counterfeit goods on the world market has grown by 1,100 percent since 1984.
