Abstract:The economics of trade is now heavily conditioned by legal frameworks. The Treaty framework for world trade established by the Uruguay Round, and other internationally important free trade and association agreements, have all created complex legal structures and rules. Economic policy choices may depend upon the intricacies of those legal structures. This is particularly true in the case of the European Union. The European Union - or more strictly, the European Community - possesses its own "legal order".
