Abstract: | The value relevance of 20-F reconciliations of shareholders equity is evaluated in this article by using retrospective reconciliations provided when a non-U.S. firm files an initial registration statement with the SEC. The results indicate that market-to-book ratios are associated with the shareholders' equity reconciliations disclosed in the registration statement. This implies that at least some of the value-relevant information in the SEC-mandated disclosures is available to the market from other sources. All of the value-relevant information captured in the reconciliation is fully impounded in prices prior to it's disclosure. |
