Abstract:This paper has contributed to the literature on internationalisation of SMEs by revealing links existing between export marketing strategy and the degree of internationalisation for SMEs. The results show that the foreign distributor pricing and support elements of the export strategy chosen play important roles in determining the internationalisation level achieved by a SME. The paper illustrates how some aspects of domestic strategy are linked to successful (achieving higher degrees of internationalisation) export marketing strategies. A theoretical basis for future internationalisation studies is provided.
