Abstract: | When a company begins to export and reaches maturity with the establishment of foreign manufacturing subsidiaries, first state internationalisation begins. At first a manufacturing subsidiary sercives only it's local market but after a while the subsidiary begins to export it's output to elsewhere, engaging to second state internationalisation. The activities of a sample of UK-based manufacturing subsidiaries of multinational corporations engaged in second state internationalisation, are examined. The linkages with other operating characteristics are assessed, strategy parameters associated with second state internationalisation are identified. |
