Abstract: | Organizations use part-time employees to provide extra capacity and extend their operating hours. Part-timers hourly wages have increased, which threatens one of their key advantages. Service sector employers obtain now more labor from overtime work than they do for part-timers. There has not been much research focusing on overtime scheluding politics, although the benefits of part-time scheluding policies are well understood. This paper addresses that scheluded overtime same operational advantages of part-time scheluding policies. The effects of alternative overtime staffing and scheluding policies on important performance measures are evaluated. |
