| Abstract: | While the field of foreign exchange risk management has an extensive literature, relatively little of it addresses the question with reference to MNE subsidiaries. Three types of foreign exchange risk are distinguished: transaction exposure, translation exposure and economic exposure. This paper contains a summary of the literature on the relationship between exchange risk and MNE subsidiaries, and sets out the methodology employed. It categorises the variety of responses of the subsidiary managers, and draws conclusions on the strategic role of subsidiary managers in the light of the survey findings. |
