Abstract: | The increasing importance of electronic commerce makes it essential to develop a theory of virtual value chains. The article considers the intermediation process btw. consumers and producers within electronic markets. It is argued that, contrary to existing wisdom, intermediaries will have a key role in electronic markets. A set of propositions is presented regardin the emergence of cybermediaries and the development of virtual channel systems. |
