Abstract:This article reports on a field study investigating users' perceptions of the impact of group support system on power and influence within the organization. Evidence suggests that group support systems are perceived to exert an equalizing force on power and influence by increasing participation in the decision making process, improving access to information, improving access to persons, reducing power distance to key persons, and providing increased opportunities to influence the opinions of others.
