Abstract:An organization's human-resource development (HRD) system is a key mechanism for enabling the achievement of business goals through what has been argued to be one of the main remaining sources of competitive advantage -- namely, people. The analysis presented here tests the relative impact of the host-national context and the national origin of the parent company in shaping the RHD practices of foreign MNEs operating in Britain. It draws on data collected from European as well as U.S. and Japanese multinationals.
