Abstract:After a management shakeup, Boeing has a new crew and a new strategy. Since Alan R. Mulally was named president of Boeing Co.'s commercial airplane unit on Sept. 1, he has conferred with top 14 managers every Thursday morning for four hours. The meetings move from one Puget Sound plant to another, but the agenda remains the same: fixing Boeing. These managers aren't jawboning about airy vision statements. They're poring over production numbers and cost reports, trying to drive operating margins for Boeing's largest business from near zero back up to 8% or more.
