| Abstract: | Agenda 2000, released in july a997, was the European Comission's formal response to the Madrid meeting of the European Council in December 1995 which had requested "a composite paper on enlargement" and proposals for the future budgetary arrangements for the Union into the next millennium. The agricultural chapter of Agenda 2000 however, was not exclusively driven by the challenges of enlargement. |
