Abstract: | Detailed financial analyses are critical for operating in the public domain -- for example, in budgetary planning when deciding to build a school or a hospital. Similarly, business decisions are unthinkable without sound financial planning. However, monetary analyses are fundamentally flawed when it comes to assessing long-term prospects for sustainability, particularly those associated with biophysical resource constraints. The over-riding problem here is really one of misplaced concreteness. |
