Abstract:In this article, the authors highlight marketing public policy activities and the evolving role of marketing academics prior to 1960. In doing so, the authors provide an historical setting for discussions of more contemporary activities. The evidence illustrates the enduring influence of marketing academics on public policy over time. The discussion ranges from topics in early marketing courses to the participation of marketing academics in the formation and/or implementation of public policy.
