Abstract:In this paper the author states that new communications technologies could enable management processes to become much more transparent. The author considers the question whether the companies will want to, or be forced to, use them. In conclusion the author states that new technologies have the potential of vastly expanding access to the information needed to evaluate the 'softer' side of corporate practices. And these softer elements - the creation and development of intangible assets, the strategic direction and the quality of management - are becoming increasingly important in the investment decision because the pace of change in technology is making the 'hard' numbers less and less relevant to the future of the company.
