Abstract: | In this paper, the authors aim to present the rationale for a study in the form of a series of focus groups conducted with business owner-managers. An emphasis is placed on detailing the method, in order to inform other researchers of the suitability of the approach for investigations involving owner-managers and its potential for generating additional and alternative data to our existing knowledge base. This paper has examined the use of focus groups as a method of researching the world of the small business owner. The results draw on a series of ongoing focus groups, which will provide a longitudinal perspective. The paper provides a substantial list of references on this subject. |
