Abstract:This paper considers the following topic: whether a two- day course in assertiveness can really change the one's wimpy ways or not. The author answers whether one can be taught how to get his or her own way and states that experts think it is possible, although the journey to assertiveness seems to require self-revelation and some squirmy play-acting. The paper describes the author's experience while attending an assertiveness training program offered by Great Britain-based MaST. The author also considers the topics of participants' revelation of situations wherein they could not be assertive. At the same time the paper attracts the reader's attention to tips on refusing a request.
