| Abstract: | There is a growing appreciation among economists of the need to better understand the role that corruption plays in real-world economies. In this paper the authors look for corruption among Japan's elite sumo wrestlers. While acknowledging that sumo wrestling in not itself a subject of direct interest to economists, the authors believe that this case study nonetheless provides potentially valuable insights. |
